Engaging Youth Application

What do I have to do?
1. Fill out the application sheet on the NRC website and have both you and your parent/guardian sign it. Let your neighborhood association know you’ve signed up.
2. Attend a 1 ½ hour training session in late October or early November. This session will give you an overview of the full project; give you training on how to compose good pictures and what types of pictures you might take; and get your camera.
3. Commit to taking 24 pictures of your neighborhood.
4. Commit to attending one discussion session each month between November, 2011 and May 2012.
5. Agree to be part of a research project to find out how this project works to make changes in neighborhoods and how the project changes the way you think about getting involved in local projects that affect you.

Why should I participate?
1. This project allows you to identify neighborhood issues and decide how they should be addressed.
2. Your ideas and stories will be seen all over South Bend in a travelling photo exhibit.
3. You help your neighborhood by creating a plan for neighborhood improvements.
4. You become eligible for a $250.00 scholarship for any educational effort after high school graduation be it college or a certificate program.
