NRC Board of Directors announces 2018 officers

NRC’s Board of Directors is excited about what the new year will hold in store under the leadership of its 2018 officers.

President – Ron Silverman

President Ron Silverman is the owner of Creative Financial Planning Advisors, Inc.  He is a Past President of the Sunnymede Neighborhood Assn. and begins his seventh year on the NRC Board, where he has served for several years as both Board Treasurer and the chair of the NLA Committee. “I would like to see the NRC Board size grow with committed, hard-working members,” says Silverman. “We also look forward to increasing NRC’s services and support of South Bend neighborhood associations and their current and future leaders.”

Vice President – Karla Riley

Vice President Karla Riley works for the Family and Social Services Administration. She has been a member of the NRC Board since 2005 and currently serves as chair of NRC’s fund development committee.  Karla was active in the Near West Side Cooperative Alliance (NWSCA), now known as Kennedy Park Neighborhood Association, and continues to participate in that organization.  She also served on the board of the NWSCA Partnership Center and is actively involved in her church and other South Bend based community organizations.

Treasurer – Gary Benedix

Treasurer Gary Benedix is Vice President at SYSCON-PlantStar. Gary joined the NRC board in 2017 after attending the Tapas & Tango fundraiser.  He was heavily involved in his former community as volunteer EMT and firefighter as well as serving as a Cass County Commissioner and on the Council on Aging, the Library board, and the Regional Planning Commission.

Secretary – Keya Young

Secretary Keya Young, is Branch Sales & Service Representative for the downtown South Bend branch of PNC Bank.  Keya is a graduate of NRC’s Neighborhood Leadership Academy, has served on the NLA Planning Committee for the past two years and will chair the committee in 2018.  Keya joined the board early in 2017.  She is passionate about the South Bend community, is involved in the current class of Leadership South Bend,  and also volunteers her time for other South Bend based organizations.
